How does it work? You can Talk-to-a-Doctor about your symptoms, 24/7, from the convenience of your home, office, hotel or anywhere in the world. IMAGINE... You or your child wakes up one morning with sudden cold-like symptoms: stuffy nose, cough, congestion. You don't want to miss time at work by sitting in an urgent care or ER waiting room or you don't want to have to pay the deductible for a routine office visit. What to do? STEP 1 - Contact Talk-to-a-Doctor Simply log in to your account or call the 800 number provided to request a phone or online video consultation with a Talk-to-a-Doctor physician. The average doctor call back time is 22 minutes. STEP 2 - Talk with a Doctor A U.S. board-certified doctor or pediatrician licensed in your state reviews your Electronic Health Record (EHR), then contacts you, listens to your concerns and asks questions. It's just like an in-person consultation. There is no time limit to the consult and there are no additonal fees to speak with a physician or medical specialist. STEP 3 - Resolve your issue The doctor recommends the right treatment for your medical issue. If a prescription is necessary, it's sent to the pharmacy of your choice. 91% of members report that the Talk-to-a-Doctor doctor resolved their issue. Talk-to-a-Doctor is billed diretly to your credit card for only $9.95 per month. Do I talk to "real doctors"? Yes. Talk-to-a-Doctor members only talk to actual doctors who are U.S. board-certified internists, state-licensed family practitioners, pediatricians and emergency medicine doctors licensed to practice medicine in the U.S. and living in the U.S. When you request a consultation, Talk-to-a-Doctor will connect you with a doctor licensed in your state. What are some of the common conditions Talk-to-a-Doctor treats? Common conditions include sinus problems, respiratory infection, allergies, urinary tract infection, cold and flu symptoms and many other non-emergency illnesses. Can Talk-to-a-Doctor handle my emergency situations? Talk-to-a-Doctor is designed to handle non-emergent medical problems. You should NOT use it if you are experiencing a medical emergency. Can I speak with a specialist? You cannot request to speak with a specialist directly, but our doctors may be able to provide guidance on the type of specialist you should see. Can I request a particular doctor? You cannot request a particular doctor. Talk-to-a-Doctor is designed to support your relationship with your existing doctor. It is not a means of establishing an exclusive relationship with one of our doctors. Please know that all Talk-to-a-Doctor doctors are highly qualified and go through rigorous training and credentialing. We have the largest physician network of any telehealth provider with board-certified, state-licensed doctors. Can I use it for my family? Yes. Your Talk-to-a-Doctor plan covers the entire family of any single household. Can I get a prescription? Talk-to-a-Doctor does not guarantee prescriptions. It is up to the doctor to recommend the best treatment. Talk-to-a-Doctor doctors do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic, and/or certain other drugs which may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. These include, but are not limited to, antidepressant drugs such as Cymbalta, Prozac and Zoloft which are drugs that are harmful due to their potential for abuse. Also, non-therapeutic drugs such as Viagra and Cialis are not prescribed by Talk-to-a-Doctor physicians. Where do the prescription drugs come from? Talk-to-a-Doctor does not dispense prescription drugs. Our nurses call the prescription into the local pharmacy of your choice. Is my electronic health record kept private? Health records are kept totally private and we employ robust encryption methods to protect your personal information. You determine who can see the information in your record. Can I be turned down for a pre-existing condition? We do not turn patients away because of pre-existing conditions. Can I call Talk-to-a-Doctor outside of the United States? You can request a Talk-to-a-Doctor consultation from anywhere in the world. You will speak with a doctor licensed in your home state. International consultations are advice-only. You must have a U.S. address and a U.S.-based phone number for the doctor to call back at the time of consultation. Your Electronic Health Record We provide you with a free electronic health record (EHR) allowing you to access and share your health information wherever and whenever you want. Simple as that. Access your EHR from the internet anytime and, if you choose, share it with other healthcare providers. How does it work? 1)You create and control your EHR. You decide who can see, use, and share your information. 2)The doctor reviews your EHR. Before a Teladoc consultation, the doctor reviews your EHR so he or she can provide you with the best quality care based on your health history. 3)The doctor updates your EHR. After the consultation, the doctor updates it for your records. 4)Access your medical information. You can access your medical information anytime online and share it with your other healthcare providers as you see fit. The choice is yours. 5)Take it with you. Your EHR is portable and goes anywhere you go. If you change doctors, jobs, insurance policies or locations, your EHR is yours to keep. Is it secure?
